brain dump 2026/03/17
yesterday after hagwon, THREE people came up to me and told me that they wanted to join my linguistics olympiad club. three people! in one single day!!! one person didn't even know me but had recognized me advertising the club from school and spoke to me in the hagwon bus. and now i have five members including myself in this club, which is the minimum required members to register a club at school.
meanwhile, my english webzine club feels doomed. which is funny because at first i thought the webzine club would be less niche and more useful, and therefore attract more members. but that was wrong because the webzine club required english speakers, and most people in my school didn't speak english or were too busy to join a club.
i just read mason's new post. the discover feed is harmful to me also, but less because it makes me feel undermined, and more because it makes me doomscroll. i do feel like the more popular people on bearblog should be more respected, though i know that goes against the point of bearblog and that the popular bearbloggers mostly don't care about popularity. also yay i got mentioned! i love how mason wrote my toki pona name as 'Jan Awa' instead of 'jan Awa' (only proper modifiers are capitalized in tp, names are supposed to be modifiers and need a head word, my head word is 'jan' meaning 'human'. so jan should not be capitalized, Awa should) note that i am not criticizing that or telling mason to fix that, after all do i look like i have consistent and standard capitalization. sometimes non-tp people will look at tp names and think the head word is the name part (which is not), which is especially common if the head word is jan. for example jan Misali, most of his vids are in english and not about toki pona so in every video i guarantee there's smbd calling him Jan and somebody commenting that the previous commenter just called him Human.
i changed the font of this blog yesterday, and this font feels similar to my actual handwriting a bit more. wait actually no.
