the whole winter vacation adventure la mi kama nasin

i registered for the newspaper thing, which took courage cuz i am way too shy to do new stuff. and after that, ava got 8th grade syndrome and is now emailing strangers and posting cringe stuff on her social media.

actually tryna be better in the newspaper thing, briefly exploring dragon boat festival (dano but chinese) and finnish… stuff? the dragon boat stuff la tleowjr qorud of the origin is interesting (also david teacher butchering chinese pronunciation lol) and finland la everything seems interesting? idk i do want to go on a wikipedia rabbit hole someday

trying my best in 수행평가. for 사회, i 수박 겉핥기’d on- wait i’ll stop using the expression from now on cuz it doesn’t really tell how much i went into the hole.3 continuing, i read a few namuwiki articles and news about what linguistic discrimination is and some examples. there was even this one thing in korea where someone saw a foreigner who doesn’t speak korean and thought “oh that human must be insane” and sent her to a mental hospital, and it was really long ago (somewhere around 1990s or 2000s?) and mental hospitals were really bad and she suffered for months/years. in the suheng, i used a british school banning black country dialect for an example of linguistic discrimination. for the 사회a project (아시아 여권 만들기) i researched on timor-leste (동티모르 in korean) more specifically 역사 (전근대, 포르투갈 식민지, 인도네시아 식민지, 독립 이후), 정치 (신생국가 치고 민주주의가 잘 돌아감), 경제 (최빈국이고 딴건 기억 안남), 문화 (전통문화와 포르투갈에서 들여온 문화의 조화. 버스가 인상깊었고 표준어 제정 문제가 있음), 관광지를 조사해 미니북을 만듬. yeah everything else isn’t that interesting. also i learned 너구리 and raccoons are unrelated!

subak 겉핥기4-ing (google docs fixed my fhakwk into hangul. yay) how ai works and what ai is good/bad at currently. and then i wrote that into an essay for mpoly. (i said tnqkr rjxgkfxrfl4 however i spent two days doing nothing but researching and brainstorming, WITH CHATGPT) this brought me to the conclusion that ai ethics, critical thinking, and human originality would be important. and then i decided to get back into creative writing and somehow discovered the indie web. the indie web is rlly cool and i respect the generation that has invented it. gen alpha has a lot to learn from them

when writing my mpoly essay abt life extensions, i thought abt potential problems of a society with life extensions like biological castes (sapiens writer warned) and society rotting cuz young people don’t have chances.

물자절약 글짓기 대회 la, in the short research time i had i found a lot of resources talking about tips both conventional and unconventional talking abt how to save resources. however, i realized many people aren’t interested or think this is old. i said in my submission that getting people interested in saving resources is important, and we should promote an environment where people can get these information easier and see saving resources as a good thing, by 1. using social media algorithms 2. 중고시장 3. points and rewards. tbh these are all generic ideas but i didn’t have time, ok? also this could be connected with the book i read yesterday, which i summarized in toki pona.

소논문. it was probably the biggest project of the first semester (took 2 months). i was gonna write abt 2020년대 북한 언어 현황과 남북한 언어 차이 해소를 위한 방안. before i got settled on the topic (i went for the 통일 부문, and i was thinking smth abt 남북한 언어 차이) i searched the internet and read some wikis, news articles, and academic papers. most of them were from the 1990s-2010s and therefore a bit outdated. (불알 does not mean 전구 in modern north korea) there were many 탈북민’s who said even the 통일부 자료 are outdated. the specific stuff i researched are probably here and here. anyways i concluded i should write abt 남북한 (사실상 북한만ㅋㅋ)의 최근 언어 변화와 외교관계가 어떻게 남북 언어 연구에 영향을 미쳤으며, 남북한 언어 연구사를 참고해 현재 남북한 언어 차이를 해소할 방안. for actual progress, i did basic research on 5/4, procrastinated till 6/1 when i supposedly started writing, and then on 6/3 (6/2월-6/4수까지 학교쉼) i chatgpt’d for research and i couldn’t have researched this much without it. however i couldn’t have organized my thoughts without a mindmap. thanks me for making the hard decision to use a paper mindmap! on 6/4, i went back to writing, and i did the same thing on 6/7. and then i flea-hit (korean calque)5 on 6/14 and 6/15, but i got a headache that lasted for the whole day and i barely did half and there were a lot of holes in this thing so i quit! i listened to lingthusiasm with the lights turned off and making my mom’s laptop faced against me. best day ever. i proudly texted yeyoon i gave up the reason i couldn’t hang out with you. anyways here’s some problems that existed (the whole thing was kinda cringe tawa mi but cringe ruins everything, so let’s ignore that):

  1. it means hi.

  2. i like to translate toki pona into english literally.

  3. note that this document wasn't written straight from start to end.

  4. 수박 겉핥기, or licking the watermelon's surface, means only looking into the surface of something. i wrote this using hangul, revised romanization, and the way i'd write hangul with a latin keyboard (idk what it's called), or all mixed cuz why not.

  5. 벼락치기 (to cram)
