new zealand's capital according to my mom
one time i was testing my friends geography, and i asked them where the capital of new zealand is. at first they said auckland which i think is a reasonable guess, and then someone said canberra and some other human said papua new guinea. and then someone said 'no canberra is the capital of canada' and my brain stopped working. and then someone said that the capital of canada is manhattan. ah yes people thinking the capital of a country isn't even in that country.
and then i went home and started telling that to my mom, i just said the 'i was asking my friends where the capital of new zealand is' part and she was like 'brisbane!' very confidently. i laughed, told my mom that brisbane is in australia, and that the actual capital of new zealand is wellington. that has never left my brain since for months, and today i was laughing at that again. my mom asked me what i was laughing at, i told her it was the time she said the capital of new zealand is brisbane. and she was like 'oh wait it isn't brisbane? is it helsinki?'
