pre-camp thoughts
intentionally posted on wrong date
tomorrow i'll be away from home and parents for a few weeks, longest i've ever been. yes i chose it but still i'm a bit nervous about that, like would i miss home a lot? would my roommate be a decent human? would she have 수학의 정석 공수1 cuz i wanted to bring it but i didn't have the space? though i'm in the camp from tomorrow, we're leaving today to enjoy the place around. that means the bed i'm lying on rn will be a few hundred kilometers away from me, and this is the last day i can enjoy it. as well as my precious pink blanket.
math workbook choices
one of the requirements at camp is 'a math workbook', cuz students need to study math while at camp. tbh i kinda wanted to bring a 10th grade level one (maybe 수학의 정석 idk) but i realized i barely remembered anything from 9th and even 8th grade, plus i like writing proof for everything. plus 8th grade math tests are way harder than 7th grade and need a lot of problem solving practice. so now i have a 최상위수학 2-1.
why specifically 최상위수학 tho? this is the first math workbook i ever chose that wasn't chosen by my parents (pre-2022) or hakwon (2022~2025) which is a cool milestone in my independent learning journey. my brother uses the exact same books he used at hakwon, and one time i looked at his 최상위수학 라이트, a book i remembered as having the most painful design ever. but looking at the newest edition one year later, the design is awesome and you know what's even more awesome? how they explain concepts. and i was like 'I NEED DAT' but 최라 was always a bit easy, i wanted something challenging, so i got 최상위수학 from the same publisher (디딤돌). i have never tried 최상위수학 before, so it's gonna be a good opportunity to test myself using a new book.
book choices
they said i should bring two books. i was gonna, but i ended up buying three books at the bookstore and added one more, the language instinct, at home. so there are four now and my backpack is extremely heavy.
two of them are about math, each euclidean geometry and the history of math, one is titled 다이내믹 코리아 (dynamic korea) and talks about current issues in korea, and the last one is the language instinct cuz i really want to finish it but somehow i couldn't.
at first i wanted to get 수학의 숲을 걷다 and essentials of linguistics 2nd edition, but turned out the second book was a university textbook that you don't randomly get in your local bookstore, and 수학의 숲을 걷다 wasn't in that bookstore.
currently sitting on my bed again in my outside, non-school uniform clothes that i do not commonly wear (the last time i did was october, i only wore one kind of non-school uniform after that), i haven't thought about that for a while but writing down that i am sitting on my bed, i realize it is getting closer to my last time on my bed before the end of several weeks at the camp.
