re: The sound of thoughtspeak, and skin-color in fiction books
this randomly appeared in my discover feed, and this is pretty relatable escept for a few things.
i, as a korean who has always been somewhat1 in touch with the korean community and has always had korean as their dominant language, am used to reading korean books set in south korea with ethnic koreans. so everyone in fiction is ethnically korean unless specified. even in books that obviously don't have ethnic koreans, like one that is set in middle ages europe, i still think of them as ethnic koreans maybe with their hair dyed. because of course having blond hair and living in europe before people from other regions started moving there doesn't mean they're white, it just means they've dyed their hair lol. also with thoughtspeak, yea all characters have my voice (except for some men) also all internet figures are white and nonbinary unless specified.
i've lived outside korea and though i had a korean community there, it was a different experience from being in korea and i still have a lot of differences from other koreans here↩
