the education system is political

here i am again, trying to study math and getting distracted by a book about math.

today i read this article on namuwiki, 수학과(교과) 문제점 및 해결 방안 and it's about, yeah if you know korean you know, problems in the math curriculum of the korean education system and proposed solutions. i've also been reading two books by a math professor named 송용진, which are 수학의 숲을 걷다 and 수학자가 들려주는 진짜 논리 이야기. those articles and books have now convinced me that the math they teach in school, as well as other subjects, are not all in the best order. like while some people argue that students hate math and have more private education because math is hard and covers a lot of things in tests, both 송용진 and parts of the namuwiki article argue that many people who have the most say in making the math curriculum do not know math very well, and therefore modify parts that you are not supposed to.

so i've recently been interested in the educational policies and the school curriculum itself, as well as math that isn't taught for grade school. i haven't looked at them a lot, but i think set theory is cool, and if i realize i don't have the basics for that, i guess i'll do whatever the basics are. but 송용진 says that the education system is neglecting set theory too much when it's connected to everything else in the system so why not try looking into it?

of course i should mainly study school stuff, after all professionals were involved there, but school stuff does have a lot of impact from people who fight too much, so it's always good to question and go outside the curriculum.
