why don't people join school clubs
before the start of eighth grade, i decided to make two school clubs. one is about making an english webzine (we used to have an english newspaper club but the teacher in charge of it is gone as well as the passion of the students there and the budget), and the other is about preparing for a linguistics olympiad (klo and/or ölo)
anyways getting students for both of these clubs is fucking hard. this is because there are two types of students:
type 1: the students who work hard and are probably qualified for the club but don't have time because they already do a million activities
type 2: the students who don't work hard and therefore have no interest in school clubs and sometimes aren't qualified
you can't get a type 1 because they are already busy, you can't get a type 2 because they don't give a fuck about school clubs. i do have a few students who did join my club, one is a ninth grader who i'm friends with, idk why they joined. the other one is a seventh grader who is passionate about school clubs and believes joining school clubs will make them productive. that is similar to seventh grade (and eighth grade lol) me, so i might make a guess that seventh graders would be easier to get for a school club, since they are passionate and have some free time due to not having standardized tests.
anyways i'd like to know how i am supposed to find someone who is willing to join a school club.
